The Online Home for the Texas Sprint Series Launches Today,
at raceTSS.com!

Garland, TX (02/06/20) by DarinShort.com. Officials of the DFW-based Texas
Sprint Series (TSS) are pleased to announce the launch of www.raceTSS.com –
their new online home. For those unfamiliar, the TSS is a RaceSaver  IMCA
Sprint Car group that competes across eight tracks in roughly a 150-mile radius
of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex area.

At the new site, fans, race teams, tracks and marketing partners can keep
updated on the latest Series news, pictures, video, schedule, rules,
online registration & merchandise store…and much more.

Speaking of online store, TSS would like to thank Norman Martin and the crew at
Action Sportswear for creating such a great looking t-shirt design
for 2020 (which will be for sale at raceTSS.com within a couple of days).

TSS Series Promoter Danny Merrell comments: “The 2020 season for the Texas
Sprint Series is going to be fantastic. We’ve got a great officiating crew
assembled, there are already 38 registered teams and now all we need is some
decent race night weather in order to provide racing fans throughout this region
with exciting and family entertainment-driven winged sprint car racing.”

Merrell continues: “During the off-season we developed a symbiotic relationship
with the 360C.I. Sprint Car Bandits (SCB) series. That alliance will help grow our
online media presence – and it already is today with the launch of raceTSS.com.
I’d like to thank SCB co-founder Darin Short for spearheading coordination with
the tracks across this region and getting both the TSS and SCB schedules
interlocked, resulting in not even one overlapping event scheduled for the 2020
season. Now when race fans want to see a quality winged sprint car series in the
region, they’ll no longer have to pick and choose which series event to go to.
This also greatly benefits those alliance tracks, as it will boost fan attendance
organically. Between the scheduling work, bolstered marketing presence and
strong officiating staff,  we’re really hitting on all eight cylinders going into the
new season.”

Will Eggimann, Principal with the SCB comments: “There are so many positive
scenarios with this alliance that make sense for teams, fans,
marketing partners and promoters – and that’s been our ultimate goal all along
with the SCB.”

In other Series news, there are no significant rules or procedure changes being
planned. The season kick-off meeting was this past Saturday at Smiley’s Racing
Products and teams are now prepping for the season opener at Kennedale
Speedway Park on Saturday, March 7th.

THANK YOU to all the teams, fans, marketing partners, series workers, track
workers, series tracks and vendors for their support of the Texas Sprint Series
throughout the years, and we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge our
marketing partners at this point going into the 2020 season:

All-Import Auto Parts, SCP Polymers, Smileys Racing Products, Velocita
Racewear, Sunoco Race Fuels, Henderson Properties - Ron Henderson,
Precision Reprographics, Allard Racing Engines, Superior Steering Wheels,
Woods Transmission & General Repair and ABC Pick & Pull – and if you’d like
to get your business in front of our loyal fans, contact us today. We can help
develop an effective and budget-pleasing solution!

New Era for Texas Sprint Series Blasts Off with
Record Car Count and Nail-Biting Feature Event

Kennedale, TX (3/8/20) by DarinShort.com. The Texas
Sprint Series (TSS) Tony Hernandez Memorial event held
at Kennedale Speedway Park on Saturday night brought
together a series record field of 40 RaceSaver IMCA race
teams.

It was an evening full of remembrance of TSS founder
Tony Hernandez, who recently passed away, hotly
contested racing action and a wild and completely
unpredictable feature event – that at one point hushed
the large crowd due to an extremely scary and serious
incident.

KSP track prep guru Bo Rawdon somehow had the track
set on full-tilt and smooth (after working the track
incessantly for days as a result of torrid rains mid-week),
and the cars set a blistering pace in the mid-13’s
throughout the racing program.

After five qualifying heats and two B-features the field
would be whittled down to 20 cars that were set to battle it
out. The track became more technical in nature as the 20-
lapper would get underway with patches of slick mid-way
up the track that caused some minor snafus along the
way.

However, it was mid-race when things really got hairy.

Marcus Thomas had advanced several positions and
held the lead whilst encountering very heavy lap traffic –
with the equally quick Jeff Emerson in tow. As the lead
pair caught another pair of lapped cars racing for
position, Thomas chose the bottom in corner entry, and
instantly that space evaporated forcing him to get on the
binders extra hard. With the potent 15T of Thomas
wrestling to keep the engine fired as he backed it into
corner one it left Emerson with about ¼ car width
between him, the wall and Thomas, resulting in contact
between the two. Thomas would eventually come to a
stop and be relegated to the tail on the ensuing restart,
while Emerson would be forced to the infield from
damage resulting from the incident.

This allowed 18-year-old Casey Burkham to emerge as
the new leader with a pack of strong runners on his tail
as the race resumed.

Once again mired by lapped traffic, the breakaway pair of
Burkham and Colby Estes (who’s Skyview Inc. sprinter
was glued to the track in a perfect combination of
horsepower, driver and expert set-up condition) would
race nose-to-tail and at times even closer with Estes
poised to pounce at any opportunity to do so.

Then, a very scary and crowd-hushing incident would
occur.

On lap 18, Estes would make a power move on Burkham
coming off corner two and the pair would make contact
about a quarter the way down the backstretch, sending
Estes flipping wildly into the backstretch wall – yet landing
on all-fours, sending the uncontrollable car into the infield
where tech was taking place for the previous IMCA
Modified feature.

Colby’s car would make contact with a modified sending it
into an unsuspecting James Lopez, KSP tech director, as
he was working on a car.

Lopez would be transferred to a local hospital, and with a
huge sigh, he reported on his own Facebook page this
morning that he expects to make a recovery from the
highly unusual incident.

Post-event, Colby Estes would comment to this writer that
he was okay, but his heart and feelings were solely
focused on the status of James Lopez; which was a very
honorable statement from the young 2018 Sprint Car
Bandits series champion.

Back to restart to contest the final two laps, Casey
Burkham, sans an effective right-side top wing panel,
would somehow keep control of his car and take the Tony
Hernandez Memorial win. Logan Scherb, John Ricketts,
Michelle Parson (reminder to all, Michelle Melton got
married over the off-season to Chase
Parson…congratulations!), Chase Brewer, Marcus
Thomas (recovering from his mid-race incident relegating
him to the tail of the field) and Jeb Sessums would round
out the top seven finishers. Complete official results will
be posted at the series website, www.raceTSS.com when
available.

Thank you to the staff and crew of Kennedale Speedway
Park for manhandling the muddy mess left over from the
nearly 3” of rain on Wednesday – you would never know
that it even happened – which is a true testament of will
and decades of experience on the behalf of KSP.

A jumbo-sized crowd was on hand to witness the event,
even though cooler-than-forecast temps and a pesky
breeze would attempt to thwart the crowd
enthusiasm…but it did not deter the hearty KSP fans at
all.

Here’s a video summary of the feature event by Don
Cook, that will give you a good taste of last night’s action:
https://youtu.be/x76wPi-eb9s

Thank you to the fantastic marketing partners of the TSS,
which allows the series to operate: Smiley’s Racing
Products, Woods Transmission & General Repair, ABC
Pick & Pull, Allard Racing Engines, SCB Polymers, All
Import Auto Parts, Precision Reprographics, Henderson
Properties, Superior Steering Wheels, Velocita and IM
Racing Fuels/Sunoco Race Fuels.

NEXT UP for the Texas Sprint Series will be the Spring
Sprint Shakedown at Boyd Raceway on Friday March
27th. Click www.raceTSS.com to view the new event flyer,
which is now posted.

Until then, thank you to the family of Tony Hernandez for
being on hand last night as we all paid our respects to
Tony and we hope that it provided some solace to them
all in their time of loss and reflection of his life.

POSTED 6/17/20: IT'S RACE WEEK at 82 Speedway for the Texas Sprint Series (TSS), as teams will invade 'The Land of the XL' for the first time in two
years onPOS SATURDAY, JUNE 20th at 8pm! Joining the TSS will be a complete program for the USRA Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Limited Modifieds and
Tuners; plus the EcoStocks, EcoMods and Texas Stocks. The TSS will be 3rd in running order all night long.

>Online pre-entry for TSS teams is now open (and mandatory) to eligible drivers at www.raceTSS.com - and continues through Wednesday night of
race week.

I like to call 82 Speedway the ‘Land of the XL’ because it features a super-wide multi-groove progressive banking surface that is .26 miles in distance
on the pole and exactly a 3/10 mile on the top groove of the speedway. There is even a run-off area around the entire racing surface which helps
assist drivers that might develop a problem during a race.

THANK YOU to everyone that supported the Texas Sprint
Series event at 82 Speedway on Saturday night, June 20th!

After a week full of twists and turns from Mother Nature in the
weather department, it
ended up being a nice evening to be outside for the races.

The track was wide and smooth offering drivers lots of options
a top the 3/10 progressive banked surface.

Here's a quick video recap of the TSS feature event:

https://youtu.be/_by4n89Vcyc

I guess we're lucky to have gotten the event in - as while I type
this there's a severe thunderstorm warning approaching the
Metroplex and none of that was forecast at all
for this morning.

This concluded 4 consecutive weekends of TSS racing, and we
are off this coming weekend (as the Sprint Car Bandits are at
KENNEDALE SPEEDWAY PARK).

If you’ve yet to visit 82 Speedway, it is much
closer to DFW than a lot of people think and is
NOT the old Paris Speedway southeast of
Paris. As a point of reference, including a quick
fuel stop, you can get from the intersection of
Bass Pro Shops/I-30/Bush in Garland to 82
Speedway in 80 minutes. 82 Speedway is
about 15 minutes WEST of PARIS, located on
Hwy 82 on the east edge of Petty, TX. The
address is 16369 US Hwy 82 Petty, TX 75470.

In 2020, the Texas Sprint Series has
coordinated our schedule with the Sprint Car
Bandits series and would like to thank them for
handling the scheduling process between all of
the tracks in the area so race fans and teams
don't have to pick or choose 'which' winged
sprint car series to watch - as on any given
night in 2020, there are no overlapping Texas
Sprint Series or Sprint Car Bandits series
events. This way race fans, teams, sponsors
and tracks ALL WIN! We'd also like to thank
our series marketing partners, as with their
help we're able to bring teams, fans and tracks
this awesome series! Please click their links
